The Richards Bay IDZ, Transnet and the City of Umhlathuze have had pleasure in hosting the Diplomatic Training group in the City. The trainees will soon be embarking on their assignments of representing South Africa in various countries abroad.

The programme is designed to assist the attending group of trainees with vast knowledge on tourism and investment projects that are the country’s focus sectors when it comes to attracting foreign direct investments. The orientation programme therefore provides a comprehensive overview and detailed understanding of the South African landscape and the associated development priorities.

The training programme facilitated by Diplomatic Academy at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) ensures that the diplomats in training are able to articulate investment projects that the country is looking for and further market and promote the country as the ideal destination for different types of investments.

The RBIDZ, City of Umhlathuze and Transnet have been delighted to share competitive advantages of the region with the trainees; and admittedly see these trainees as representatives of the country. The country needs representatives all over the world who will not only represent themselves, however embrace and share the information with the world with the aim of optimising the country’s visibility and its potential in driving sustained economic growth programmes.

As the RBIDZ, we believe that it is essential to have representatives of this calibre reasons being that they can be the voice of the Province, and critically talk about what they have seen in all parts of the Province.
